Make sure you read the directions and expectations - especially the point system on the 2nd page (see below).
We also went over Attachment and Parenting Style section sin the PowerPoint.
For homework, you are to:
1) Read the article "Raising Successful Children" and "The Rise of American Authoritarian"
2) Complete the parenting style handout
3) Complete Days 1, 2, and 3 in your baby book. Some area will not be able to be completed because we have not gone over Kohlberg or Erikson, but do the best you can.
4) Make sure you have filled out the appropriate areas in our Developmental Unit PowerPoint guide
Make sure you have completed the Piaget Handout.
If you were not in class on Friday and did not receive an egg, please read the Egg Baby Project and obtain your baby from your family's refrigerator. It is up to you if your egg will be hard-boiled or not.
Expectations for the Egg Baby Project
Responsibility
- You are responsible for the well-being of your egg at all times. This means, among other things, protecting them from harm and harmful environments.
- If your egg cracks or there is other damage to the egg, you must report it
- An incident report must be filed including the following information:
- Name of parent/name of egg
- Date of incident
- Condition of egg and circumstances surrounding the incident
- While it is understandable that you won’t be able to “parent” your egg at all times, it is expected that you make a concerted effort to spend as much time as possible with your egg. Therefore, you may not have other people egg-sit for more than 4 hours at a time. If you are at work, an activity, etc… you are expected to make arrangements to keep your egg with you.
Point Breakdown
- Decoration of egg (face only): 5
- Egg Carrier: 5

- Reading books to your egg
- Having play dates
- Making a “lullaby” mix
- Showing off a new crib
